Λίγα λόγια για τη Riga

Ρίγα πρωτεύουσα της Λετονίας, βρίσκεται στη Βαλτική Θάλασσα.

Η πόλη είναι ιδιαίτερα σημαντική για την εκτεταμένη Jugendstil (γερμανικό Art Nouveau) αρχιτεκτονική της, και η UNESCO την έχει εντάξει στα μνημεία παγκόσμιας πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς.

Ρίγα βρίσκεται στη διασταύρωση του Daugava και του Ρίγα ποταμού. Η σύγχρονη Ρίγα δημιουργήθηκε από γερμανούς εμπόρους, μισθοφόρους και σταυροφόρους.

Με τη διάλυση της Σοβιετικής Ένωσης, το 1991, απεκατεστάθη η ανεξαρτησία της Λετονίας. Aπό το 2004, που η Λετονία εντάχθηκε στην ευρωπαϊκή ένωση, η άφιξη τουριστών από το Λονδίνο και το Βερολίνο έδωσαν άλλον αέρα στη πόλη. Το λιμάνι της Ρίγας αποτελεί σημαντικό κέντρο θαλασσίων μεταφορών.

Το 2008 η πόλη έχει περίπου 720000 κατοίκους.
Αξιοθέατα της πόλης είναι:

• Η παλιά πόλη
• Ο λουθηρανικός καθεδρικός ναός
• Το κάστρο
• Ο ναός του Αγ. Πέτρου
• Power Tower στα τείχη της πόλης
• Σπίτια και κτίρια κατά μήκος της λίμνης Jugla.
• Οι δρόμοι Alberta and Elizabetes iela (art nouveau)
• Το Motor Museum (Motormuzejs)
• Το radio-TV Tower (τρίτο σε ύψος στην Ευρώπη)
• Ο ζωολογικός κήπος και το τσίρκο

3 Brothers

Three Brothers are located in the heart of the Old Town and it's a very good sample of medieval Riga dwelling buildings.

The oldest house called the White Brother dates back to the 15th century.

The year of birth of the middle Yellow Brother is 1646. The Green Brother was constructed in the middle of the 18th century.


In the White Brother since 1994, the Latvian Museum of Architecture has housed.
